The National Cancer Institute (NCI), a division of the National Institutes of Health (NIH), Bethesda, MD, launch­ed the Selenium and Vitamin E Cancer Prevention Trial (SELECT), which is investigating the effectiveness of vitamin E, selenium and a combination of both in preventing prostate cancer. Roche Vitamins, Parsippany, NJ, will provide the vitamin E for this 12-year trial, which will study more than 32,000 men in 400 clinical centers across the U.S., Puerto Rico and Canada.
